I think its an issue because I have heard the Attorney General of the Unites States say in a televised interview he doesnt believe the Constitution guarantees Habeus Corpus, when it specifically does in Article 1! The premise of holding alot of these inmates at Guantanamo is that they do NOT have the right of Habeus Corpus, which basically says that a person shall not be unlawfully imprisoned. If you say these people dont have the right, where does it end? then they can say anyone involved in their VERY loose definition of terrorism under the Patriot Act doesnt have the right of Habeus Corpus as well. Can you imagine if they just started plucking people off the streets and detaining them for any reason they see fit under the Patriot Act? Thats what the big deal is. Hope this helps, and READ the Constitution sometime Americans! We cant defend our rights if we dont know them!

Actually habeas corpus ensures a state does not trample on a person's rights under the federal government. It should be considered more an issue for state goverments and courts but is a protection from the federal courts.

You should have the body of evidence, goes against the new Federal laws and Agencies, like HSA and what used to be INS because they deny that they agreed with the Geneva Convention, but the ones before them did. Its pretty much a fast forward lateral of BS that is being given to us as a hand off.
