Zune.net. The songs are really cheap and you can subscribe to 14.99 a month and download unlimited songs. The site is owned by Microsoft it's the competition to itunes.

morpheus and kazaa are both illegal and you get a ton of spyware/shareware, etc on your computer with both of those programs. Limewire is illegal too, as far as I know. I've used Napster and really liked that. iTunes is really good too. I use Ruckus because I get a free subscription through my university. The selection isn't the greatest though.

check out allofmp3.com. Yes you do pay for it, but the prices are ridiculiously low. The legallity of it is somewhat gray. It is a legal legit business run out of russia. Its just that there royalty laws are different. But paying 11-17 cents a song beats 99 cents any day. They have an enormous selection, and you can pick the download quality on most songs which is cool. You pay for the data transferred so higher quality = more money. hope this helps

Best to avoid free sites, there's a high chance you'll pick up a virus. Try Iomoio, I've been using them for 3 years now and never got a virus. Songs are all in high quality bit rate so sound a lot better than the stuff you rip from Youtube. Register with the link below and get 2 free downloads to try them out.

Why not just use Limewire, who cares if its breaking the law, join the club and start downloading music illegally.

Your local library may have a huge selection of cd's that you can ck out and burn at home. I live in a fairly large city and my library has an amazing selection for all age and genres. I do this quite often.
