The best one to ask is your doctor that completed the surgery. There is no one answer just on a case-by-case basis. S/he can tell you when your upper body is ready for that type of response.

You should wait until the pain subsides in your chest. Definately do not have it the same day or few days ater the surgery. too much moving around will irritate the muscles in your chest causing pain. wait for about 3-4 weeks or after you have the revisit to the doctor, for check up.

As soon as you feel up to it. I don't think your going to fill up to it for a week or so. Depends on how fast you heal. As long as he doesn't hit your chest or drain tube, I think you should be OK. The doc will tell you.
