There are several OTC sleeping pills like Sominex, Nytol, the assorted PM formulas such as tylenol PM, Advil PM, etc.
If you have tried one of them and you need something stronger; you will have to see your doctor for a prescription.

I too sometimes have trouble sleeping. I use melatonin. It is a hormone that our brains produce naturally. It can be bought without a prescription at Wal-Mart and is usually found around their vitamin section. I usually only have to take half a pill about 20 minutes before I am ready to go to bed. The first one or two times I used it, I was tired the next morning. After that though, I felt well rested and ready to go the next day.

No, you don't need a prescription, but be aware that many of the sleep aids have serious side effects.Your best bet would be to go see your doctor. However, if that is not a option.Try natural, non habit forming sleep aids such as melatonin,Valerian root, chamomile. There available at health food stores.

Chamomile Tea has been used by many as a sleeping agent, try drinking a cup just before bed or u could try some meditation. Relaxation and a clear mind are the key to a good nights sleep.

If a well being care specialist has top the following initials after his call (M.D. or D.O) definite he can legally prescribe you some sound asleep pills. in spite of the undeniable fact that, you are able to frequently %. those up over the counter at your community pharmacy. The adverse outcomes are frequently drowsiness.

buying something over the counter may help you for one or two nights.......but anything that is to put you to sleep can become very addictive.......when you decide to not take one...you will be up all night as your body will start to "want' the sleep aid*
Try and figure out What's keeping you awake at night. What is bothering you the most? get through those and you should be back to sleeping well. If not.....see your doctor*~ GoodLuck*

Yes, there are some over-the-counter ones. Be careful, though! Make sure you have 8 hours to devote to sleeping. Please don't try to take some sleeping pills, sleep for six hours, and then get in a car to go to work.

Tylenol PM works pretty well. Melatonin works, too (you can find melatonin by the vitamins/supplements). Both are available over the counter.

If they are prescription sleeping pills, then yes. There are several over-the-counter (OTC) sleeping aids too.
