I am a Christian and have my own thoughts on this matter...I am curious to know what you all think...should the US become a Christian nation, or should it continue to remain a religiously neutral nation (although the government has been forced to intrude into Christian nativity scenes etc.)

I believe that if our nation becomes a 'Christian' nation, we will end up where Europe was during the Dark Ages, when the Roman Catholic Church erroneously believed they were the one truth. We can not have a Theocratic government without God (whatever you want to call God), and we can not have a nation which upholds what God wants us to have, which is the right and freedom of choice, without God. We can not be a Christian Nation, because we as humans do not even know how to get the Christian part right. Look at all the denominations and sects of Christianity that exist...they all may have some parts right, but they are all so different. Not one single denomination is better than any other, because each one is controlled by erroneous human beings. I want you all to vote...my personal opinion is that we should never become any single relgion as a nation, but that our nation should be willing to protect the rights of all religions, so long as they don't harm anyone else.

The US is a cultural melting pot and needs to remain neutral.

No, definitely not. The first amendment guarantees freedom of religion, and that includes freedom FROM religion.

And if you think that it should become a christian nation, then ask yourself this: islam and judaism are all founded on the abrahamic god. If everyone has to worship the same god, then it shouldn't matter which of those 3 religions we follow - it's all the same boss, right? So let's just roll a dice and see which religion everyone converts to. There's an equal chance for each one, there's only one roll, and there's no exemptions - whatever comes up, you're going to follow.

If you just said, "Hey, wait a minute", then you have some idea what a whole lot of people think about your idea.

Now run the same roll of the dice, but add in atheism, polytheism, hinduism, the greek and norse gods, paganism, and any other religions you can think of. Ready to roll? Or are you happy to live and let live?

I used to think that we were a free country. Also I believe that our government is trying to push this country to be a Christian nation but I do belive that we should all have the freedom to be what ever religion we want to be. We should all have the right to show what our religions are by any means we feel in our hearts.

I don't think that it can become a Christian nation since we're more of a minority now than ever before. But that's okay you see the bible tells us that these things will happen in the end times. People's hearts are going to grow cold and as long as there is not a Christian majority in numbers, power and money - we cannot become a Christian nation. I think it would be cool to establish a Christian state or nation but then that would really just be going back to what the United States was when it started wouldn't it? When our country was founded, there were lots of believers but they didn't force Christianity on the masses. Faith in Christ is something that only comes through a relationship with Christ and not everyone is going to choose Him. But, the founding fathers set things up to create opportunities for people to hear about Christianity and to consider it - that's what our nation in modern times has taken away from our people. We once used the bible as a textbook and now it's banned material and politically incorrect. There was once prayer in school and now - we've outlawed any Christian practice and paved the way for young people to hear about and follow everything and anything but Christ including a homosexual worldview. We're not a religiously neutral nation - we're a completely humanist and secular one.

No. All religions should be respected in the sense that the government should not impose a "dominant" religion. I am not Christian but I have the highest respect for anyone's personal beliefs, whether it is Muslim, Buddhist, or whatever gives a person comfort in this insane world. God's children aren't just Christian.

nicely, as i discussed in my answer on your different question, this kind of flow may well be completely insane on their area. they may well be the final public faith top now yet faster or later interior the destiny they alright would grow to be the minority faith and enacting such measures might insure that they too might come under discrimination by utilising whoever the final public faith seems to be at that distant date. even inspite of the shown fact that they might no longer basically like the way issues are top now for them in the event that they could grow to be the minority they're going to improve a huge appreciation for the very protections of our shape which something individuals minority Religions enjoy now. The Founding Fathers have been certainly clever in making plans for purely such an eventuality and insured that every person Faiths enjoyed equivalent scientific care under the regulation. It would be destroying one of the principles that make this nation a success. Naming one religion as the lead dog in a country that prides itself on religious diversity would destroy the fabric of our culture and our nation, not to mention the Constitution. The people would never stand for it.

By Christian Nation, do you mean one that turns the other cheek?

That loves its enemies?

That believes that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven?

That believes that the meek shall inherit the earth?

That kind of Christian nation?

If this country suddenly went one religion, I shudder to think of the riots that would erupt across the nation. Religion is a touchy issue and the government should keep hands-off.

This Country is already a majority of Christians. Those beliefs have greatly assisted in building the greatest Country to date.
that does not mean we have to be a "Christian nation" however which we are not. A belief in God comes from a multitude of religions and those beliefs afford a better life for all people if they follow their beliefs.
If you haven't noticed over the past 50 years many non-believers have been removing most of the Christian policies out of Gov't so I think your premise has no chance--- there is not much left Religion in Gov't.

The US has never been 100% Christian nation - but it was at one time a majority. The government was guided by the wisdom of the Bible and as a Nation we prospered.

When the liberals (via Hollywood, other media, psychologists, etc) locked in on our visual makets they started steering this nations morals - we have arrived at the place where God has essentially been handed his walking papers. The secular and even some religious people laugh and mock when I say that God has now taken his hand off America and she is due for a fall.

As one nation under God, we prevailed.., now we have a divided nation with an evicted God and now we we fall. When (or if) the smoke clears and we are up to our eyeballs in blood, tears and misery, those very people who booted God out of our government and society will curse God for allowing such a thing to happen, failing to take responsibility for their own decisions.

God in todays world has become an easy scape goat for people's problems. They fail to realize where we stood under God, never having been invaded. Once we are taken down as a mighty nation after God has been thrown out and declared as mythical, they will not hesitate in blaming this God they despised and did not want controlling their lives.

The Bible says despite the pending punishment passed on peoples and nations, instead of repenting they would curse God. We have that mentality thriving here in America today. I even hear atheists who deny God's existence blaming God for all the world's woes. And I must admit I am taken back by these atheists who do this. Its a wee bit hard to hate and blame something on a god one refuses to believe exist. This tells me, that deep in their souls, they know God exists, they simply refuse to acknowledge him, and they despise anyone who professes God or his Son.

At any rate.., this nation is going down. Unless people repent - it will get worse.
