i went to the doctor last week and had my blood test done. my iron level is sitting on 30 (supposed to be between 11 - 29) but my doctor is still insisting that i take iron tablets. i take a tablet called FGF it helps in the provention and treatment of iron and folate deficientcy. along with it a vitiman c tablet (both taken once a day)

do you think i should take them, even though my iron is up already?

has any one ever herd of this tablet and been on it?
what was your experience?

I'm a bit concerned. I take an extra iron tablet too, but only because I have a debilitating disease called Colitis that robs me of red blood cells. In my opinion, you should only take extra iron in special cases like the above or, say, a woman who is pregnant because these to biological conditions take extra red blood cells and require more oxygen to supply the body with oxygen and nutrients necessary for proper function. Do you have a disorder of some kind? If not, then I would not recommend taking this much iron because it could accumulate and cause iron poisoning. If so, then stick to your doctor's advice!

Keep taking it. You may be able to skip a day a week and have your levels even out, but before you do that, talk to your doctor. If they still want you taking it, then do. There aren't any problems from your iron being one point too high, but you can have serious problems if it drops too low. I'm usually anemic, but when I'm pregnant, I'm always on the high end of normal. It's weird, but that's how it happens with me.
