Tell him you feel the same then work out why you broke up in the first place. But consider that his friends may be taking you for a ride directed by him to be sure if you still care or maybe the friend has a crush on you. So if you're 100% confident. The next time they say something..just say well tell him to call me and tell me himself. That way you're not putting yourself out there without hearing it directly from him.

What is the problem? he is your ex, you must have had a reason to put him to the curb, It makes no sense for you to be given the information, unless he is trying to get you to change your mind, So now you have to make the choice, love him or let him go, as it appears that he has not, but do not let this have a great deal of sway with you as he probably always felt that way. So make him part of your life or make him history, but it is you that has to choose

You're really lucky to have a guy that actually loves you and acknowledges you to his friends. I've never had this ever and you should be happy about it. If your single and no baggage in the way, then at least give him a chance. I'm in a similar situation except I'm in your ex's position and I wished he'd give me a chance. Just my thoughts.

Feel good. If he is expressing his love for you to friends hopeing it will get back to you, he has succeeded. Time for a talk. Help him to heal and move on, or take him back.
