its natural evaporation. I'd say it might be your pump was to powerful and blowing water out of the tank but I doubt it on a penn plan air pump. How often is it going down? Thats important. If it's every other day or so thats not really uncommon. Just get used to topping it off. it's a chore vut it's part of having a tank. Good luck

My guess is when the bubbles pop a tiny bit of water splashes out. It is not enough to notice, but it will add up pretty quick. Even if the fish drink the water, that will not affect the water level because the water is still in the tank.

Report me if you want, but what you are doing is cruel. What is even worse is that you know it is cruel, and you are still doing it. People like you should not be keeping fish.

How would you like it if you were put in a 4 foot by 4 foot closet, with a bucket to do your buisness in. Sure you would get plenty of food, but that bucket is going to make things very nasty. For fish it is even worse, they don't get a bucket, they have to swim in their own nastiness. What is even worse is that goldfish grow very large, and live a long life, and because of you, your goldfish will do neither.

Report me? Maybe your cruelty needs to be reported.
