Hopefully this will all make since.

My best friend is an extremely shy young woman and whenever the two of us hang out she complains about her best friend.

Her best friend is having relations with a man that already has a girlfriend. Just to give a little background, the guy is gorgeous and her best friend has really low self-esteem. Apparently, my best friend is torn by this but can't bring herself to tell her best friend to stop being "the other woman".

Any advice on why women choose to still be involved with men who already have a girlfriend? I'm truly afraid she will just get hurt in the process, which in turn will hurt my best friend.

well she can express her opinion to her friend without backlash because they are friends right? as far as the "best friend" its her life. maybe she doesnt want someone who is single because that would require commitment on her part , maybe the guy is not in love with his girl and is being weak about it. maybe he is playin both of them, who knows up to her to learn that lesson.

It is often better to let women walk their own path in these cases. She can be there as a friend to listen when her friend needs it or give advice if her friend asks for it, but simply butting in to give her two cents worth will cause friction and possibly the loss of a friendship all together.

I've been the other woman. I stayed because I believed all the promises. When you love someone, it's not easy to just walk away.

Your right, unless he gives up his other, he has the best of two worlds, and lettig him have it she is giving it to him. He has to choose now, or get out!
