Nike's recent National teams jerseys were designed to blend the past with modern. During Singapore's glory years in the Dollah Kassim and Quah Kim Song years, winning the malaysia cup, they were wearing BLUE.
So Nike probably decide to make the jersey blue. But i personally find the jersey would look nicer in red.

It's only temporary. Nike, the Lions' new kit sponsor, will come up with a red kit soon.
