No. You can not feel the same compassion, warmth, and general feeling of the physical hug. A virtual, or mental hug can barely transmit the same feeling of comfort and care. It can be said without a second though, while a real hug is, in a way, a commitment.

No, it's not. Humans were created as social beings and with the need for physical touch. Even as adults, physical touch is important. That's why it's so important to the elderly to have touch.. a real hug.
