running a stroke engine with suction on the exhaust pipe, will this effect engine as far as tuning purposes? like back pressure, I'm trying to tune 2 stroke motorcycle in a garage with suction pipe on exhaust

Yes, it can make the engine run leaner. Other than with special equipment, run the engine and read the spark plugs. Be careful because a lean engine will run hotter and it's easy to burn a hole in a piston.

It depends on the vacuum pressure of the suction device. A 2 stroke engine requires back pressure to be forced into the exhaust port while the port is still open (the back pressure acts an exhaust valve closing on a 4 stroke engine). To much suction and there won't be enough back pressure to "close" the exhaust port.

--When your bike is running, put your hand at the end of the muffler and feel the exhaust pressure coming out. If the vacuum force of your suction device is equal to, or weaker then the exhaust pressure, then you'll be ok.

It may also depend on how tight the vacuum hose is on the exhaust pipe. Real tight perfect seal, or exhaust pipe just aimed at big hose?
