4x=11,000
x=2,250

This is an easy question.. If you dont want me to tell you the solution, then ignore this answer entirely:
Divide 11,000 by 4 because you know that John will get 3 times as much as mary, which means mary will get 1/3 of what John will get, which means the money will basically get split to 4, Mary takes 1/4, and then John takes the rest which is 3/4 which means John will have 3 times as much as mary. Might be hard to understand :P.
So if you divide 11,000 by 4, you end up with 2750. Which means, Mary would get 2750, and John would get 3 times that amount (2750 x 3) which is 8250. To check your answer 8250+2750 which is 11,000.
John will have $8250
Mary will have $2750
Whoever wrote this in the will sucks, they should give that money to me :P

a) Suppose Mary get = $X
Then John gets 3 times which is = $3X
so the equation goes like this
X+3X=11,000
b) Solve the equation
4X=11,000 (divide both sides with 4)
so you get
X=2750 which is what mary gets
3 x (2750) =8250
you can put these values back in the equation of a) and check it also

Let J = the amount of money John will get
let M = the amount of money Mary will get
J=M*3
J+M=11000
M*3+M=11000
M=11000/4 =2750
J=2750*3=8250

let mary = x
then john is 3 times more than mary so john = 3x
3x +x = 11000
4x = 11000
divide both sides by 4
x = 2750
so the answer is
mary will receive $2750
john wil receive $8250

let m=the amount mary will get. therefore john will get 3 times m or 3m. the total amount the 2 will get will be 11000. therefore m+3m=11000
4m=11000
m=11000/4
=2750
since m is the amount mary gets, she gets 2750
since john gets 3 times this much he will get 8250

x = Mary's Money
y = John's Money
John's Money = 3 x Mary's Money, or
y = 3x
The total of amount for both = 11,000, so
Mary's Money + John's Money = 11,000, or
x + y = 11,000, solve for x
1) x + y = 11,000
2) x + (3x) = 11,000
3) 4x = 11,000
4) x = 11,000/4
5) x = 2,750, so
Mary's Money = x and John's Money = 3x, so
Mary's Money = $2,750 and John's Money = $8,250

i am going to respond to only a pair via the undeniable fact that is YOUR HOMEWORK. a million. First, subtract one hundred % from one hundred fifty %. you've a huge difference of fifty %. 50 % is 1/2 of the unique quantity of touchdowns (one hundred%). So, take 8 and divide it by technique of two. Your quotient is 4. upload 8 and four and also you get TWELVE. 2. you actually should be extra particular to verify that us to respond to that. Is it 15 % of the cost of pizza and sodas blended, or is it 15 % of pizzas, soda, and tax blended? 3. settle on this in a share. sixty 2=a million.5 Divide sixty 2 by technique of 310 and a million.5 by technique of x. so that you get sixty 2/310=a million.5/x. Now, flow-multiply. sixty 2 cases x=62x. 310 cases a million.5=465. Your new share is 62x=465. Divide both area by technique of sixty 2 (so that you would simplify x.) x=7.5. it is going to take Mrs. LaDuca 7 hours and 1/2-hour to verify her novel. 4. settle on this in a share, too. 37/4.625=x/a million on the grounds that x/a million =x, you recognize that 37 divided by technique of four.625 = x. Now merely divide! Your answer should be "x=8 ft"
