I was told if you are 17 and have a child (like a mother) you are considered an adult and can sign custody contract papers over to anyone else u want. Is this true or is it complete bull? no emancipation has happened she is just 17 and happens to have a baby.

Oh also would she be able to sign them to someone withoput her legal guardian being there or being notifyed at all?

This is somewhat two fold. At 17, you cannot enter into a contract or anything of that nature, even with a child. But, as the parent of the child, you can do things like sign custody papers, give the child up for adoption, etc. without the parent or guardian. Basically, the child can give up her child without even consulting her parents.

Her rights at a parent supercede her status as a minor only concerning issues with her child.

I don't believe that you are considered adult, but I do believe that you are able to act on your child's behalf. And a minor who is a parent can sign adoption papers.
