I have lived in California all my life, so yes, the Californian Lifestyle has indeed been affecting me.
However, I do believe you should clarify what you mean as "Californian lifestyle" because I find the term vague.

I was born & raised on the east coast. I've lived in California for 25 years. The lifestyle definetly affected my life. I've learned the value of diversity. I've gotten to enjoy the great outdoors in a much more temperate climate. I love the four seasons back east . But, I do not miss living through snow & humidity. Both my taste and style has probably become less preppy than it would have had I stayed in Connecticut or Boston. I have become the adventurous spirit I was meant to be by staying out here all these years. And; I know this for certain because all of four of my siblings stayed back there & to this day when I visit they can't believe I am who I am ! But, hey I surprise myself sometimes ! I beleive I am much more acculturated & more empathic because I am a California girl...although in my heart I'm still part Yankee girl.

I love the hippie and former hippie crowd.

I used to think that Hope Ranch, where my relatives lived, (Santa Barbara) was how every middle class family in California lived, and used to be endlessly pissed with my parents that they didn't move us straight to Hope Ranch so that we could have a pool, jacuzzi, beautiful land, and California style house.

As I've grown older, I've become disgusted with the amount of water wasted in such a fragile ecosystem in maintaining all of those green lawns and flowing gardens, fountains, and swimming pools. I've grown disgusted with the extreme disparity between the way most Californians are able (or barely) to survive and the extravagance with which the upper class in CA take for granted.

this is a great question. even though i live on the east coast, i feel i identify more with what the cali lifestyle has to offer. especially the socal beach lifestyle. hollister is my favorite store, all of their clothes are cali surf style. i have been to cali several times and each time it is harder to leave. so yes, i think it has affected my life, in that i can identify with it.
