I spend most of my days doing pretty much nothing. Wasting time. Spending it on the internet that's pointless.
I'm taking a year off college right now. I figured that each day I should study and eventually just become an expert on a whole bunch of subjects, what better way to spend my time eh? I'll start with subjects that are related to my school, like biology and chemistry and then move on to other subjects.

I was thinking engineering but I'm not actually sure what engineering is.

Anyway please suggest some good topics.

If you are good in math and I assume you are because you mentioned chemistry why don't you consider chemical engineering. Research, study-same thing, to see if this is an area you would be interested in.

Well, the best place to start your quest for knowledge is with the subjects that you most enjoy and/or that you are curious about like engineering. Then you can move to other subjects. I will list a few:

Psychology
Political Science
Physical Science
Sociology
Mathematics (Trig, Algebra, Calculus...)
Social Sciences
History
Religion
Contemporary Issues

That is just a start. There are so many out there. I wish you the best of luck on your quest.

Do what interests you. If you don't like something in general outside of school, then you'll be wasting your time taking it in school. There are many different types of engineering. Find out what each branch of engineering covers. If you like building things, then structural engineering might be for you. If you like figuring out how things work, then electrical or mechanical engineering might be a better fit.
