Levels are determined by a set number of points. The higher you go, the more points it takes to reach the next level.
Some tips for earning more points:
1) Best Answers get ten points. Make your answers interesting, informative, and unique. Add a little humor, when appropriate, or tell a small story that applies to the topic.
2) Try not to ask questions unnecessarily. You lose 5 points for every question you ask. Use the Search engine and see if someone else has asked a similar question before. Chances are that they have.
3) Vote for Best Answer. If you think your response is the best, choose it when you go through the list of questions that you've answered.
You also get a point for each time you vote for Best Answer. If you've asked a question, choose someone for Best Answer. You get 3 points for that.
4) Look at the responses of Level 6 and Level 7 users. See what they do to make their replies memorable. Chances are that they've done some research and put a lot of thought into their answers.
5) Pick a couple of categories that you know a lot about, and stick to them. It's OK to answer other questions, of course, but if you have an area of specialty, concentrate on that. You'll get more Best Answers that way.

You just keep answering questions. You get two points for every question you ask, and ten if you get best answer one once a day when you sign into yahoo q @a and you get 1 point for voting although I don't think you can vote on level one. Also you are limited on the amount of questions. Each level has a certain amount. Good luck

answer lots of questions and give out most reasonable answers! here's another hint:
check back the questions that u've answered and check whether if it's in "in voting" or not. if it is, vote for ur answer and if u get a 100%, u'll get 10 points for free!!! ^_^V that's what i did. =P

by answering questions i got to be level 2 before i knew it but level three seems like it will never come i don't know if you need to have soo many best answers too

Answer questions instead of asking them.
Answer the questions to the best of your ability if you want best answer points.
DON'T post things like "give me best answer" in your replies, you will almost always get reported for point gaming.
