If you have to ask this question the answer is no. I use Scottrade. I think they're great. But a novice should not be using a deep discount broker. Learn about trading. Read. Go with a regular discount broker (when you're ready). One you have a few years of experience you'll be ready to take advantage of a deep discount broker.
