I think it may have something to do with the fact that mom was always there and dad maybe wasn't present as much. Also mom is usually the disciplinarian and dad isn't. Also men stay little boy minded which means to say they are more apt to know what it is to have fun then the mom who is still in teach mode, trying to teach the children what is appropriate and what's not. Those are my theories.

where did you get that statistic from ,did you make that up
most boys are closer to their dads and most girls are closer to their mother ,but there is no rule all depends on the individual family and how many children there are is also a factor ,or what kind of job the father has got ,is he home every day or does he get to go abroad a lot

and what each parent is like
it is impossible to give a statistic like you do
you cannot interview every family in the world or even give a projection

.or are you only talking about your neighborhood???

My mom bugs me about the littlest thing such as misplacing a sweater while my dad's okay with it as long as it's not in his way. My dad is easier to understand and communicate with. My mom is stubborn though she claims she's not and it's harder for her to understand others. Daddy's girl<3. LOL.

I think most girls prefer their fathers and boys their mothers.
How did you come up with the 85% figure? I don’t think that is accurate.

People connect with their fathers because their fathers basically teach them everything they need to know to live. Mothers only really teach you manners and respect. Fathers teach you everything from self defense - learning to play sports. No offense to any readers.
