BOTH, I own both..... BUT I THINK CONVERSE
Mostly because they appeal more to every race with any style, you can be
grunge,
skater,
hippy,
punk,
hip hop,
prep,
soccer mom,
everyone wheres converse...
It's not the same with vans, even though they ARE popular.

I own both actually. Where I live (also in cali!), first Vans were more popular, and then Converse became more popular. Now people are kind of coming out of the converse craze, and they're both about equally popular.

Vans are very stylish. they come in a lot of different colors & patterns like Converse. but i think Converse are more popular only because they have so many damn commercials and everyone tries to do something new with their design.
