Ok, I recently relocated here awhile ago and I can give you an unbias answer. Minneapolis Minnesota is hands down one of the best and safest (if not the safest) city in America. Minnesota in general is third in education, and Minneapolis has been graded as the most literate city in the U.S. Its clean, progressive and has a terrific arts community. If you dont mind the great white Norths winters you'll get along great (not to mention Minnesota's reputation for stand-up, polite, and respectful people).

Check out the website http://www.statemaster.com

The safest state depends on what you man by safe.

The state with the least amount of "violent crime" per capita is North Dakota

The state with the least amount of murder and nonnegligent homicide is Maine.

The state with the least amount of firearms related deaths is Hawaii.

Go to the website and take a look at crime statistics. They have a lot of other rankings among the states.
