the rectange is m by n
The perimeter is 2m + 2n = 40
m = 12
2(12) + 2n = 40
24 + 2n = 40
2n = 16
n = 8
Sooo. its 12 cm by 8 cm

The width of a rectangle is 8 cm. The formula for the perimeter is: twice the length plus twice the width or 2(12) + 2(w) = 40 . Solving for w , w=(40-24)/2 or 16/2=8

Well, perimeter is all the way around. So, 12*2=24 Then just take 40-24=16 So, the width should be 8.

ok right here we bypass. the fringe = 40 cm the length = 12 cm keep in innovations, a rectangle has 2 pairs of parallel aspects... because the perimter is length + length + width + width, you employ the equation... l + l + w + w = p 12 + 12 + x + x = 40 24 + x = 40 so the width is 40 - 24, that's 16. wish i helped!

let w be the width of the rectangle
so 2w+2*12 = 40
2w+24 = 40
subtracting 24 from both the sides
2w = 16
so w = 16/2 = 8
width of rectangle is 8 cm.
one should always write out all the steps. Just getting answer is not enough
