Some do, some don't. And the degree to which different types cross-react is also variable. Cats, for example, are like humans in having preformed antibodies to different blood types; the type groups in cats are called A and B but they're not the same cell markers as in human A and B types. Dogs have different blood types (called A, B, and C I think) but they don't initially have antibodies to other types so you can usually 'get away' with one mismatch before the dog develops reactions to different blood types.
Almost all species (of mammals at least) reject blood cells from other species, so cross-species transfusions are not possible. There is a blood product which uses hemoglobin (not actual cells) from cows but it breaks down very quickly.

before everything i could desire to thank you for asking such an exciting question I had in no way theory approximately it,so i did slightly of "learn". sure animals have distinctive blood variety (Blood group) too only like people. In guy blood group is utilized to single component. This component is agglutinogen and is that's called antigen. it extremely is located on the exterior of crimson blood corpuscles. contained while it comes to animals blood group is utilized to mixtures of blood factors. So it extremely is maximum advantageous to call it as blood group structures somewhat then blood communities. each and every gadget has many factors, that are mutually referred to as blood group factors. Dr J Moustgaard of Copenhagen pointed out in livestock ten group structures extremely A, B, C, FV, J, L, M, SU, Z and R'S'. different than J and L, all the different group structures have greater desirable than one group component. And The Rh component (used to indicate human blood variety besides) replaced into first found interior the Monkey Rhesus even though it do selection from animal to animals apes have the same blood group shape as we do (our ancestors) In cats it extremely is oftentimes found that blood of one cat could be transfused in yet another. wish i helped. thank you back bro.

I worked for a vetinary...and he had 2 blood donor cats.....yes...you are a loud to do this and they are very well treated....He has them, so when he preforms an operation on an animal, and that animal has blood loss, he can replace the blood just like in humans.....So, as far as cats and dogs, are concerned there are no blood types.

Yes Animals and bacteria have cell surface antigens referred to as a blood type. Antigens from the human ABO blood group system are also found in apes such as chimpanzees, bonobos and gorillas. Other animal blood sometimes agglutinates (to varying levels of intensity) with human blood group reagents, but the structure of the blood group antigens in animals is not always identical to those typically found in humans. The classification of most animal blood groups therefore uses different blood typing systems to those used for classification of human blood.
