No I dont believe they could have. The Colts D stepped up and stopped the leagues second leading rusher in LJ. Peyton would have similar opportunities like Brady did. I think Peyton would have found his receivers open a bit more than the Pats were and the Colts would have snuck by with a close win over the Chargers. The Chargers secondary isnt as good as the Pats. They may have stopped the Colts run but wouldnt be able to stop the passing game. But we will never know cause New England won and the Colts beat them. My 28 year wait is over and I cant wait. Go Colts!

And hypothetically speaking if I had four wheels I'd be a trolley car. The Patriots did beat the Chargers. Merriman was a non-factor and LT had a hissy fit. The Colts probably would have had them for lunch. The Patriots Colts game was probably everything CBS could have wanted. Exciting. High scoring. In doubt until the last pass. Wrong result that's all.

Well, I was routing for them to do so. My favorite part of football, though, outside of the Redskins, is to see a great matchup and we definitely got that in the Patriots/Colts game. I don't think there is any way for the Super Bowl to match that game.
But to answer your question, yes, I think that the Chargers could have beaten them. Merriman would have been all over Manning and LT could run a mile against that defense.

Well the Colts would have had to play in San Diego. So what was the weather? It really needs to be connsidered. I think the Chargers could have beat the Colts though.

Actually, NO. The reason for this is because Phillp Rivers got hurt, and publically said that if the Chargers advanced any further, he could not have played. That would mean that San Diego would have to go with Billy Volek as Starting QB, and although Volek is a good QB, putting him in that situation would have been tough.

Yes, the Chargers just needed to be focus on the game at hand and not the Superbowl. They are a young team and they will be back

No, I think this was finally Indy's year to break out and they would've won whether they were on the road or home and whether it was the Chargers or Patriots.
