Yes, that's a great gift! Just make sure you buy a good quality cello. It's so hard to know when you're getting a good one and when you're being scammed when it comes to instruments, but here are some things I recommend asking:

1) Which company makes this cello? Are they known for higher quality instruments?

2) How long will this last her?

3) Does it have a rubber tip, or will she need a rock stop or other stopper?

4) Where was the instrument made?

5) Will this work for her skill level??

By the way, I almost recommend telling her you plan on giving her the cello....and having her pick it out. She should know a bit more about musical terminology than you, and what she wants is important too. Plus, she'll get a chance to try it out, so the sound (which is quite important) will be to her standards.

Good luck. You win the sweetest gift from a bf award. This should make her happy. Good luck!

Yes, this is a wonderful gift. But, you don't know what brand of cello she may want so make/give her a card and write in it that you are going to take her to buy a new cello.

If she like to play the Cello and hers is falling apart, and you can afford it, yes.
You say she can't afford a new one. Did she say that? If she did, it means she want's a new, (newer) one. If you get her one, she will flip, and she will flop. Probably in that order too.

i think that would be great but also get her sumthin personal as in a box of chocolates, bacelet, necklace, flowers, ect. the other 1 (the personal 1) doesnt really have to be big, since ur already getting her sumthin big... but make sure the cello u get her a nice , or the same brand/ kind she had, not a cheap crappy 1

Only if you're hoping she'll marry you. Maybe you could attach a ring to the end of the bow...

thats a realllly sweet thing to get her but spending that much money is kinda rough, but it sounds sweet especially if she really loves to play

Wow, that would be VERY generous of you. It seems like you are very committed to her and she is very committed to her art form. I think that if you are willing to spend that money to support her, go ahead..
