I always wear my hair in a half ponytail because it's so thick. I've tried putting a hairband on, but from the side, my hair is so thick it looks like it's a wig. I just want a hairstyle that's not a ponytail. If you can, please recommend a cut for thick asian hair. I know there's layers, but I don't really want to shorten my hair. I've heard thinning is pretty bad. Please answer!

Yes Thinning is bad..no one wants to have "thinning" hair. But if you go to a good salon they can texturize your hair so it lays more consistent and has style. Layers are sort of nice because they give movement to the hair and if done correctly it does not take Length of your perimeter of your hair. Also adding some Carmel highlights ( NO BLONDS FOR ASIAN) will give your hair a different look. I am also Asian with THICK Horse hair, so I know what you are going through. You can't walk into a salon saying you want change but no layers and no "thinning"...all they can do then is make it shorter. So try something new...be daring, and go somewhere good to have it done. I like Carmel highlights in my hair, because when I do want to pull it up, it gives it a different look. Good luck

i know what you mean, i have the same problem. i have grown my hair out and it is much easier to choose hairstyles for it. or you could cut your hair (very) short and have thick layers. i also like to braid my hair and it looks very pretty and natural. my mom has short(er) hair and since it is very thick it looks very good and has lots of volume.

Asian women have nice hair, don't do a thing to it, you would prob regret it later on..unless you are 100% sure i wouldn't

i am asian and i really like long black hair. grow it long. wear it as ponytail, braid it, and wear it as a bun. there are many hair accessories now available to us.
