My good friend Kevin is having a problem. He was talking to his best friend Jake on the phone and Jake said Kevin was not his best friend. He said he was his third or fourth best friend. Kevin was very hurt by this since they have known eachother for 4 years and he thought that he was Jake's best friend. Kevin does not want to forget about having Jake as a friend. I dont know what to say to him and i want to make him feel better. Please comment.

I think you shold stress the point that Jake considers Kevin a good friend and will remain a good friend. It is difficult to find out your friendship is not what you thought it was so try to be there for him and comfort him .In time Kevin may just find a new best friend that sees him the same way.

Just tell Kevin that he shouldn't worry about where he falls into his friends line of best friends, he should be happy that he does have a friend.

You be his best friend. What Jake did was mean.

The best thing you can do is LISTEN. Don't be judgemental or say accusing things about Jake.
