And the sign says "No long hair freaky people need not apply"
So I put my hair under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine outstanding young man I think you'll do
So I took off my hat I said "Imagine that Huh Me working for you"
CHORUS:
Signs Signs Everywhere there's signs
Blocking up the scenery Breaking up my mind
Do this Don't do that Can't you read the sign
And the sign says "Anybody caught trespassing will be shot on sigh"
So I jumped the fence and I yelled at the house
What gives you the right To put up a fence And keep me out
Or to keep Mother Nature in
If God was here He'd tell it to your face Man You're some kind of sinner
CHORUS:
Oh Say now mister Can't you read
You got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't watch No You can't eat You ain't supposed to be here
And the sign says "You gotto have a membership card just to get inside" Huh
And the sign says "Everybody welcome Come in Kneel down and pray"
But then they passed around a plate at the end of it all
And I didn't have a penny to pay
So I got me a pen and paper And I made up my own little sign
I said Thank you Lord for thinking about me I'm alive and doing fine

I know its different for a fact....
I opened a can of Russian alphaghetti....
And couldn't find the letters to spell my name...

Must be a different alphabet???...

So I must concur that sign language then is not universal either!!

American Sign Language is the sign language used here in the United States. It can vary throughout the country depending on the region, just like a spoken "accent". For example, one word can have a different sign used depending on the part of the United States you're in. Some signs are different in the South, than on the East coast or West coast, and vice versa. Different countries use different sign languages. There are classes offered at Gallaudet University for the Deaf in foreign language and they teach the different signs used for that language as well as the reading and writing of that language. So the answer to your question is no. It varies depending on the country and even varies within each country.

There are different types of sign language, but it is a language all it's own the most common form is ASL or American Sign Language. You can thiink of it just like Spanish or French some universities allow it to be taken as a second language.

Actually, there are a couple of different sign languages and one is pretty much english, but there is one that is it's own language so it is universal.
That is and Afrikanns signer would understand a Parisian signer.
But I do not know which of the sign languages it is.
It is not the one that spells everything out, but more has universal symbols.

No...this one I actually know a real answer for: I worked with a deaf lady at the newspaper in Texarkana - and learned a little sign language from her. She told me that the different countries in Europe have a different set of signs.

No not at all. Some countries have different meaning for theirs based on history with different events. Like in China the sign for American would be the same as the sign for crazy in America. With our history with China, its no wonder why they would do that.
