You got your first job with no experience, why not try it again with this job.
If they call and find out you got fired, they WONT CALL YOU AT ALL TO EXPLAIN! They will put your application in the round file cabinent (the trash).
DOnt put it down at all.
If your reason for putting it down is experience, if they call to verify same it wont be good. Even if they dont say anything, they can let the employer know things by what they 'dont say'
for example
Potential employer calls your old job and says
'so how was so and so when he worked for you'
Old employer: 'well he did work here!'
new employer: "was he a good employee?'
Old employer " well he DID work here', 'I have to go, good luck on whoever you hire'.
new employer: 'wait, why did he leave?
old employer : (dial tone)
Old employer violated NO laws but effectively told new employer "you suck"!
if you put the "do not contact" thing, it might be a red flag. I think that that is put on there when people are currently employed and dont want the current boss to know that they are looking to leave..
jUst my opinion.
But I vote for DONT PUT IT DOWN!
Even if you put it down and they find out later and you get fired, that is still a paycheck that you had that you did not have before...
You have everything to lose and nothing to gain by putting it down in my opinion...its not like they want a nuclear biologist, they need someone to help at a grocery store.....so they can train you on the job like the previous job did!
Good luck
I hope you get the job
but if you dont, you were looking for a job when you found the first one.
Dont be discouraged even if this one does not work out!

Well, it depends on why you got fired. If you got fired for a disciplinary thing such as stealing or not showing up at work, then you need to talk to the person you are applying for and tell them what happened that you learned your lesson, you are much older and wiser and more responsible and will do a good job for them, even though you had a bad track record at that job. It is better to be upfront and honest then lie to get the job and always be wondering if they will find out and you will get fired then. That would be the worst. My ex husband used to lie on job apps all the time and then act all surprised when 5 or 6 months down the road he got fired because they found out he lied.

i'm a hiring manager for my store and i can only speak for me but i like to consider how long you were employed, why you were fired, your appearance and if you speak with proper english clearly and with self confidence. if you were fired for something like stealing or calling in too often then don't put it down. if it was even partially questionable why you were terminated put it down and point it out yourself. don't talk bad about old bosses, it doesn't sound good. smile, shake hands and be the best

If you give the contact address of your previous employer, they will contact them regardless if you checked the box or not!

That makes them ask more questions. If you are not in permanent trouble over it you might try telling them what happened. You have to account for the time and experience.

Be honest.
If they find out later on you can be fired for dishonesty.
Lying will always come back and bite you in the A**
