Seeing that to have good, you need bad to compare it against.
How would you know what good was or happy is if there is nothing against which to measure it.
I would say that the things without opposites are where the truly happy dwell - like for example the imagination and seeing everything as you wish to see it, this then becomes a choice of happiness over over other less happy imaginngs.
Helping others in a ' no return required' kinda way - that is a one way street to happiness.
Also dwelling on the truly astounding creation of the earth. Lets face it, we are all here sitting on a giant ball, suspended in space with nothing holding it up, and each of us for some reason are a part of it all, its hard not to feel happy about something so astounding. For without it, we wouldn't be here to even discuss happiness.
And finally lets talk about you - I'm willing to bet you enjoy answering questions from others (like I do) and why do we do it? What drives us to reach out and offer some of our own perspectives to others? Its that indescribable, can't quite put a name to it 'feeling' inside us to be happy and 'want' to make others happy. That I am sure comes from a place where there are no opposites.

Just like beauty would be unknown it there were no flowers in the world to give it expression in there numerous forms and wondrous colours, happiness would be non-existent in the world if there were no people capable to be happy and express their happiness through deeds of beautiful manners and conduct.
The secret of being truly happy, if there is any secret at all, is in making genuine efforts in life, efforts to enhance life. When we make efforts to the best of our knowledge and belief, we know a little more about ourselves from a slightly different perspective each time; we explore the wonders of our own mind and the magic in our own heart. Once we know that we have been honest then regardless of the fact that we win or lose we accept life and advance.
In my view therefore, happiness is to know that we are better today than we were yesterday, and if not better than at least we are not worse off. We know that our life is constructed by our own actions and decisions, it is our own.

Redefining what you want, so that it is exactly identical to what you have.
It's "getting your mind right."
Yeah, it sounds cynical, but really that's all it is -- desire for "happiness" itself is the core burden that makes us unhappy. If you can let go of desiring more or different, long enough to attend to your present experience (even if it's "bad times"), you're golden, no matter what your experience is... you don't make a judgement about whether it is "bad times" or "good times."
In practice, nobody can be happy all the time; it's not possible because we have to plan and take care of ourselves. It's extremely difficult to do even a majority of the time. But being able to fall back on the ability to accept what there is, in bad times, helps a lot.

aahh, one of the big questions in life. I think of all the answers I've read or heard of, the one I agree with is Being grateful for all the blessings you have, both large and small. It's true that everyone has joys and mishaps in life. Life is never easy. for anyone. But I think those that are happy are constantly seeking to see the positive rather than dwelling on the negatives in life. Some people are naturally better at cultivating this attitute, but all of us can learn to better appreciate the good stuff we have in life. I think it takes practice, though
thanks for the thoughtful question

Firstly one must find happiness within themselves and this can then be passed onto so all you meet. Secondly people mostly react from how one appears to them i.e. frowns/sad faces/grumps/arrogance etc., is picked up so easily and causes unnecessary reactions and can take away your happiness in seconds. So do unto others what you believe you want to happen toyourself, be gracious obliging and polite and above all understanding....thats my happiness and it seems to work for me. Obviously, we all have sad days and bad days, but one can still be by oneself and not hurt people and when you return to happiness you and not blythed with the fact that you did someone wrong.

Too much of a good thing is dangerous, it's best to get a challenge to be able to enjoy the outcome, which is then described as happiness depending to how hard it was to attain it and the energy put into it. Otherwise you never know happiness if you didn't know sadness. eg. winning a game one must practice.....

I don't think there is 100% true happiness here. However, if we follow God, we can have some peace now and the 100% in Heaven. No secret though. He wants the world to know and accept Him.

I have spent so many years trying to fix things myself. I made them so much worse. I think that they secret to my happiness is knowing that God is in control. I know that nothing happens to me in life without God knowing about it first and that He would not let anything into my life that I could not handle. I guess, in short, the secret to happiness is God. For me any way.

take each second as it happens. Never hurt anyone. Care about everyone. Give quietly.. help, be a real person..
we can't live in happiness all the time as there is too much saddness in the world and hunger and sickness.. and sick people who want to hurt. Where is Utopia

Be happy with what we have. Never compare, just remember that there are many unfortunate/unluckier (than us) ones out there. Be contended, no matter how small a thing it might be. Also look at both sides of things, especially the positive side of them. Be positive at all times.
