She will show vertical stripes if she is ready. You will need a male ready to mate also so she can lay the eggs. If she is fat don't forget that is could be constipation or the disease called dropsy rather than being eggs.

Look at her from the top. If her scales stick out like a pine cone, she has dropsy.

Without a male to fertilize the eggs (and betta breeding can be dicey) the eggs will not hatch. They will be eaten, if she even lays them. She could reabsorb them.

Betta female are ever ready for spawning. You just need to have the correct steps.

The vertical strains mean that she's waiting. If she has a huge abdomen, she may well be constipated/bloated. A white spot or a white patch? A white patch would point out that she's conserving eggs or that she's purely bloated/constipated, you will comprehend she's waiting while she develops the vertical strains.
