Nice avatar, cute.

The collections others have struggled to collect and edit... such as Ralph Woods "Treasury of Favorites", and Palgraves "Golden Treasury".

Some anthologies of scrapbooks are just amazing in the jems that are inside and forgotten, like Spartacus' Speech to the Gladiators, which probably only resides in Woods' treasury #2.

Anthologies by the radio hosts of the 30's are really good due to the material was donated by the listeners from the littel scraps of favorite clippings that we all hang onto and share. Ted Malone's 5 books, Tony Won's dozen, but best of all in my collection are the 2 "Heart Throbs" collections from a magazine that had a competition in 1905, where the best entry of a favorite poem or anecdote, short story or quote, would be awarded a stack of silver dollars as tall as the donor. In 1905 that really got attention and competion.

I gave a away several sets, all I could find in used book stores, to friends who also appreciate stuff like this.

How about you? What were your favorites so far, to keep you comapny on silent days and nights?

Best wishes for your searching out and finding these led zep babe.... also try Van Loon, "America", "Lives"

It really depends on the mood I'm in. If I'm in a mood to learn, I'll get a book on historical events. If I want something light or funny, I'll read Janet Evanovich's books about Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, are great. During the summer, I love books on gardening, or how to make the yard look nice, books on wildlife, things like that. Right now, I'm reading "Peace Mom", by Cindy Sheehan. Richard Paul Evans is one of my favorite authors, especially "The Christmas Box." I don't like romance novels. I've read a wide variety of books and still do.

Any book with well-developed characters is a book that I will enjoy reading. Most of the books I'm currently reading are considered fantasy.

I completely enjoy romance novels. They are so beautiful and I probably am a hopeless romantic but no matter how cliche the idea is, it's still good. No matter how bad the writing is, I'm willing to read just for the story. I am extremely emotional so I tend to cry when the guy and girl deny their feelings or when one gets dumped. Maybe that's why I enjoy it so much. I love tearjerkers as well.
