for the most part I like pretty much all cultures. I think every group has their bad apples, but the English are good people I guess.

Hi to all you Americans :o). Must be the only Brit girl on here. Not sure whats going on but this is Uk & Ireland answers. But hey !! Was interesting reading some of your comments. And so far they are pretty nice, so thanks. We can be a reserved sort of bunch. And I suppose we are looked on as snobbish at times, but not everyone is like that in the UK. We are individual as everyone else in this world.. And yes we get nasty people and nice people.. And for Bettina, yes we do think you Americans have an accent also. Which I may add I think is great, I like you guys anyways, I should do, I lived in Montauk, Long Island NYC for a year. And I made some fab friends. There will always be people that have opinions on any race or creed, but hopefully the majority of folks all get along whoever they are and wherever they are from.. :o) Well is 3,40am here in uk, Guess I better go to bed after this speech .. Nite nite America x

I can't speak for the majority of Americans since I am only one. I can speak for myself, though. I can't group English people into one catagory. Just as there are people in this country who are sweet and wonderful, and those who are nasty and disagreeable, I am sure it is the same in England. Generally I view English people as more proper than Americans. And I do like to listen to the English accent. I wonder if English people think that Americans have an accent...?

Americans think of English people as smart and sophisticated with a dry sort of slapstick sense of humor. Many Americans think that the British accent is sexy, and that alone inspires confidence. In fact, many commercials and such in America specifically use people with British accents to push their products for this reason. American also think of the English as somewhat emotionally flat, as in, tightly wound, and not very emotional or fun. Sorry, but I have to report the negative too! Oh, and in general, Americans don't find British people funny. I'm American, and the fact that I use yahoo answers in the UK exclusively demonstrates that I think, as many Americans do, that you can get better advice/answers from British people than you can from Americans, and that more Americans are idiots (though I'm sure you have your share of idiots as well!)

I thought the English were all wealthy. I had somehow equated the two things in my brain. What a surprise, huh. Well, after chatting with two very intelligent souls from Birmingham, I discovered nothing could be further from the truth and that English people have financial issues just like we all do. Big surprise! Apparently World War II really did a number on England, from which it is still recovering today.

To be honest, I have never met any one from England. I have been to Italy, France, and Switzerland but not yet England. It is next on my list though!

So, I really don't have an opinion. I mean, some people will say that the English are very "stiff" and reserved...but come on! Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are English and there is nothing reserved about them. From what I know of England, I like it. I'll let you know what I think when I've actually been there though. :)

most of us have a positive opinion about the english. we grew up listening to the beatles, the rolling stones, the who, led zeppelin, the kinks, ozzy osbourne, and etc and even though americans invented rock n roll, we have to admit that UK bands puts our's to shame.

the myth that we think we are better than everyone else and have a superiority complex is just that. a myth.

as for me, from what i know about english people, they seem friendly and likeable. however, i've met very few.

but to answer your question, the majority of americans do like the british.

Small Troll, old fellow. Good to see a fellow old Etonian on this board, what, eh? Let's stop answering these silly questions and go shoot a lion old boy!

I find it absolutely hilarious that we have all these Americans posting saying how British / English accents are cute, etc. 99% of British people don't talk like that! More people sound like that daft bird from Frasier than sound like Hugh Grant. Poor Americans... they are in for a shock when they visit Newcastle...

Truthfully Americans in general arn't extremely fond of England. (although sometimes a guy with a Brittish accent is cute) It kinda seems like Brittish people are a little more reserved than us Americans and there's nothing wrong with that. Americans tend to be more free spirted and wild while you Brits are more worried about being propper and good. Oh yeah I almost forgot America is home of the greatest game ever FOOTBALL! I think overall Americans think that the English are snobbish or too stiff, they don't know how to have fun. I've learned not to clump one nation into a certain category tho. Because I think a lot of nations think most Americans are stupid. Which by the way, I don't think is the case.
