Why do many liberals treat Christian fundamentalist and Islamic fundamentalist differently?

anyone who is a Christian must be a fundementalist...
anyone who is a Muslim must be a peaceful one...

stand up and confront any Christian "fundamentalist" even though the extreme of Christians have mic's and many are condemned by Christians...
negotiate with Muslim fundamentalists because we should try to live in peace even though Muslim fundamentalist commit terrorist acts around the world and we don't see any public outcry from Muslims against such acts...

Like you said, fundamental Christians who have a say in the world (ie. Pat Robertson, Jerry Fallwell) say some pretty stupid stuff at times, like saying someone needs to hurry up and assassinate Hugo Chavez. All that happens with them is they get laughed at and are ignored.

Fundamental Muslims call for the killing of white people and Jews every day. And its done, every day.

Everytime someone asks me this they say "Well Christianity is a hate-filled violent religion! God had a ton of people killed in the Old Testament!", but they fail to realize Jesus (who is believed to be God incarnate in the Christian community) said be at peace with both friends and enemies. That doesn't mean let everyone walk all over you, mind you. Just don't be a pinhead.

Mohamed however said "Yeah, Allah told me that if you don't believe like we do, you need to die". Big difference. The main thing it boils down to is they don't want to offend any Muslims so they say all true Muslims are peaceful.

Liberals hate them both but given the fact that the Islamic fundmentalists want to destroy Western Civilization, a goal that the liberals also have and given the fact that Islamic fundamentalists will cut off the liberals heads or kill them in some other nasty way, the liberals are more than happy to ignore them.

The Christian fundamentalists are part of the hated Western civilization and do not normally threaten wholesale violence against their enemies, at least not in the last couple of centuries. So they are the easier and safer target.

Its because liberals see Christians as obstacles to achieving the lifestyle that they want to live. Muslims are not an obstacle yet....

Here's some background........ First of all, liberalism has socialistic and communistic roots. The Democratic party has been influenced significantly by liberal thought including secular progressives and has changed the party and made it more left leaning. George P. Lakoff from the University of California, Berkeley is one of the fathers of secular progressives and the ACLU and is a major funding and enforcement body that influences liberal and secular progressive thought in the US.

Liberals and secularist progressives believe in the following:

-- Christians are obstacles to an "enlightened" society
-- Drugs should be legalized
-- Homosexual marriage is equal to marriage between a man and a woman
-- Abortion is good for society and is not the killing of a child
-- Euthanasia is also good for society and not killing an adult
-- America is the root of evil in the world
-- We should appease our enemies
-- People should be allowed into the US without legal process and there should be open borders
-- Government programs with high taxation are good for society

Liberal democratic secular progressives want to change America by weakening the country as a nation and significantly destroying the social fabric that has been been built over 200 years of our existence. This is a cultural war, the stakes are high, but I believe in America and a sense of morality will somehow prevail in the end.

and I believe they treat Christians and Muslims totally different because they are different
they are almost opposite of eachother
I'm proud to say that im not a liberal myself
Im actaully a hard core bush fan

uh... I haven't seen that... but sure whatever...

I think there are "fundamentalist" movements in both parties... but both are the extreme fringes of both religions... actually being only like 5 percent, if that, of the actual religions...

but, I don't think I've ever heard a Christian condemn a Christian fundamentalist? odd? I'm sure it happens, but I've never heard of it...

and I have seen Muslims condemn Muslim extremists... odd? it was all over the papers after 9-11?

Christian and Islamic fundamentalism are both wrong.

True Christianity and Islam teach peace, so true Muslims and Christians are peaceful people. Most Muslims, like most Christians, are just trying to live their lives and raise families, just like everyone else.

I don't see your point. I guess because we do NOT have suicidial Christians trying to blow up innocent people.

We don't have Christian governments threatening to wipe Israel off the map.

We don't have Christian clergy calling for the destruction of the USA.

The muslims are brutal murderers and I believe we have plenty of history and evidence to support this statement.

So PLEASE don't be so rediculous and try to make a comparison, muslims and Christians have NOTHING in common!

Can't stand either of them but Muslims are by FAR the more dangerous and it's time we protect ourselves instead of their right to come here and be asses. But liberals don't think that way and that's going to lead to the downfall if the USA...too bad really.

Christians are majority in USA
Muslums are Minority.
Any minority must be handled with soft kid gloves by the Liberals. But the majority can get a kick to the teeth anytime.
