When you make a mistake and say these words it is usually just one thing that you messed up not multiple things. So then, why are the words plural?

They are not plural; they just happen to end in an s, like bus or chess. And come to think of it, they are not nouns anyway, but are interjections, like ouch or wow, so they have no singularity or plurality.

Perhaps oops, and the plural for whoops is Whoopsies!
That is just a guess, I am fairly new to this language, having only lived in this country for 43 years. The plurality of these words has never been an issue and I always considered myself somewhat of a word-smith.

Just because the end with the letter "s" soes not make them plural. They are words known as interjections and are exclamatory utterances. They do not have a similar, singular meaning if you delete the "s."

Oops and whoops are not singular or plural; they are interjections comparable to Oh! or Darn! They are expressions of emotion...

Largely because the singular means something else. Whoop, for instance, is a loud cry. Not the same as whoops at all!

Maybe because when you do something that rates an oops or a woops you really feel like a double dumba**
