I just applied acrylic nails for the first time. I did it myself at home, I'm happy with the result, but next time I'd like the nails to be shorter. I'm wondering how I would trim the acrylic? Do I just file it down really short or can I clip them?

I like the french manicure look too, if I trim the white away is it easy to paint back on [like will the nail polish stick to the slick acrylic?]

Or do they sell short acrylics, already trimmed in stores? I'd really just like to buy them short if I can.

You can buy them long and cut them before you put them on, or file them down. If you cut them on nail (already applied) you run the risk of cracking the acrylic.

You can always paint a strip of white for the french tip. It'll stay.

Cut, file to smooth, and paint. In that order :) If you want them professionally done, go to a good salon, and ask for a sport length. About 1/4 inch past yourfinger, and very easy to function with. That's all mine are and I get compliments on them constantly.

you can clip them or file them its up to you but fileing them will take longer if you decide to clip them the local beauty upply sells a special clipper that the salon uses and it doesnt cost much you can paint white on the nails the polih do stick to the acrylic and they do sell short acrylics already trimmed in tores or you can go to the salon to get them trimmed te length you like after you apply them it will only cost no more than five dollars.

Do not clip the nails, they will crack. If they are too long then file them down, but never clip acrylic
You can check the length before you put it on and file it down then.

DO NOT CLIP THEM! It will shatter the acrylic. Get a file and file them down to the desired length. Just go to your nail salon and have them do it for you.

did you put tips on before you put the acrylic if so you can clip them then file but if they are your nail and you put acrylic over yours no you would have to just file because you will crack the acrylic.

A little bit of toe nail is fine... but I agree with you. Long nails are kinda low.
