of course memory would increase speed, but it was running okay until I downloaded this virus scan. It was still fine for a few days but then just bottomed out. I don't have a lot of music of images, and I tried deleting out like a kids program that downloaded from D drive, but it says there's not enough room to delete it from 'add/delete' programs, which doesn't have many things. I just wondered what suddenly hogged all my disk space and drug my computer down-any ideas? thanks for your time and answers

If its been a while since you installed your operating system you should format and start fresh again.
Many computer experts recommend a hard drive reformat at least once a year. Reformatting the hard drive cleans out the Windows registry and removes any problem causing files.
Reformat the hard drive to return your computer to its original configuration.
Then reinstall all your drivers and anti virus like avast! Virus Cleaner and spybot. Protect yourself against spyware

I agree with Keith, reformatting your computer at least once per year.
I recommend installing another hard drive to install the new OS on. This way, you don't have to make a backup of your data. Then install the old hard drive in a portable USB drive, and transfer all your data and information back to the new drive with the new OS.

This will save tons of time and lost data.
