Being a nurse allows you more flexability in the job market. I joined the army as an LVN. After I got out of the Army, the VA paid for my Batchelors and then the excellent wages I made as a nurse allowed me to pay for my online Masters with no financial discomfort.
You might want to start as a nurse, get some experience under your belt, and become a PA two or three years later. Either way the medical field has a real shortage of both Nurses and PAs. I wish you success with your studies!

I admire nurses for the help they give their patients, and their intelligence. Its not easy being a nurse, the curriculum requires an extraordinary amount of sacrifice and studying. Not to mention the lab time. I think its terrific your thinking about going into the medical field. My wife is a nurse in the emergency room, she received an associates degree for registered nurse from a college in Illinois, and a Bachelors degree in nursing from a college in Wisconsin. I don't understand why anyone could look down on nurses. Typically, they work short staffed, and have to make important life and death decisions as a part of their daily routine. My hat is off to you! I wish you much success in your medical career, whichever one you choose. Good Luck!

I'd go for PA school. I have a cousin who is starting PA school in the fall. You really can't get any higher than a PA, other than being a doctor. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Not only do they get more respect than a nurse, but they get a lot more $$$$$ too.

I think you should learn to speak, or at least type, some ******* English before you become a PA. I sure as hell wouldn't want any medical decisions being made about me or my life by someone who can't speak English.
