This may be a little over the top for primary and secondary kids, but I use it in my classes to dole out the homework

Instead of giving out a homework assignment due in a week or a few days, I divide it up and send a part of the problem out on, say Monday afternoon and it is due back on Wed. am in the email. That gives them Tuesday to ask questions.. They are encouraged to email each other and let them try to help each other.

I send out the correct answer on Wed. with the rest of the homeowrk due Friday and in class on Friday we have a quiz (while I grade the work that came in Friday am..

quick turn around and it supplements the lessons if I don't get stuck or off on a tangent.

Of course, before you can do this you need to make certain that they all have access to email...
