A long time, but it's a slow torturous death. I don't suggest it. They need the uv lighting to properly metabolize calcium and vitamin D. Without it, various skeletal problems start to occur, from weakening of the bones to swollen joints and jaw warp... For Igs at least, but I'm sure it's similar bad stuff for beardies too.

I'm not a bearded dragon expert, but they are desert climate lizards and desert lizards need 12 hours of UV lighting a day.

Note that MBD is not even detectable until it is too late. If you can see visible signs of Metabolic Bone Disease, your reptile is past saving. In order to answer this question, there would have had to been a study that has X number of bearded dragons go without lighting for various periods of time to see how long it takes them to die...so hopefully no one can exactly answer this.

Don't take a chance with the lighting. My chinese water dragons (less sun requirements than bearded dragons) splashed water on their uv bulb and it broke, I found the uv coil lights that screw into a regular light socket that are only $25 US, it took a week to get to me, and I was pulling my hair out, it was in the winter, so I couldn't let them outside for sun. I could see they did not feel well after a few days.

Almost a day it needs it on for only 1-2 hours a day. But they need to UV lighting to gain nutrients like the first person said. Without this light the calcium (D3) would simply pass through their body unused, causing innumerable health problems. So they need the light every day. Hope this answers your question
