Uhm... Sega DIDN'T go out of business, dude.

As a matter of fact, after merging with Sammy, they are one of the BIGGEST video game companies in the entire WORLD.

The Dreamcast library wasn't that bad, either. The DC was a success in Japan, and performed reasonably in North America before Sega Corporation changed their business profile to become more profitable.

Okay, now that we've correct that mistake...

The PSP is floundering a little. It's not a huge problem, so far, but sales are definitely sliding compared to the DS. A big factor is that developers are supporting it less and less. It seems there are fewer good unique games for it (there are way more PSX and PS2 ports), Sony's beligerant attitude towards homebrew, and the inflated price of Memory Stick Duo compared to other flash memory has hurt it's functionality. Movie publishers have pretty much abandoned the UMD, as well.

That said, even if they take 2nd place (possible 3rd place, behind the GBA), the portable market is such a hot market that Sony should be making a mint. Add to it, Sony take a healthy licensing cut form 3rd party software, and manufacutring costs are down. so it's a pretty profitable platform for them. If they can get PS3 sales to go up, PSP sales might climb as some PS3 games (like MGS4 is rumored to) may have extended PSP support.

Barring any really crazy corporate executions, PSP will stick around for a while, and should make Sony some decent money. It's still entirely possible for PSP to be #1 in portables, since it's a close race, and the market is pretty dynamic.

I don't know about the PSP, they have a promising and growing library IMO, but the Dreamcast had an excellent library. Sure, it was missing some vital third-party support (Square and EA, although some would argue that EA's non-participation was a good thing), but anyone who says that the Dreamcast had a poor lineup of software is seriously ignorant, if not foolish. The Dreamcast had one of the best, if not the best, launch lineups in history, and until its end, it was the product of really memorable games that are fondly remembered and enjoyed today. I'm not a Dreamcast fanboy, I own many consoles. But this is a bizarre question.

sega has not gone out of business, they now only develop games. But the PSP is still going strong. I worked at Circuit City, and PSPs were sold out a lot of the time (along with the DS Lites). The PSP has awesome graphics, just wait, more games will come.

As a customary rule, recreation console makers do not make a tremendous purchase of money from sales of the consoles. study and progression on my own is a bottomless economic pit. the organizations make the money lower back from recreation sales/licensing and upload-ons. even if there are not various of fantastic video games now, video games are continually being produced and a huge percentage will be obtainable for the PS3. so a concepts i have extremely loved THPS8 and Resistance, and am searching ahead to the video games popping out this autumn. through summer season of 2008 i believe PS3 must have various of fantastic video games obtainable in loads of genres.
