It would seem to me that if it cost $30,000 to adopt a baby, that is the same thing as buying a baby. If there are so many children all over the world with no parents and dying and starving to death because of lack of food and medical care, that anyone that was not a child abuser or pediphile should be able to adopt them for free and use the money they would have used on the adoption to care for the child.

I guess when I said baby I misled people, I mean a child of any age. It is especially hard to understand why it is so difficult and expensive to adopt unless you become a foster parent first. I think that anyone that has a clean background and the room and desire to care for a child or children should be allowed to without all the costs involved. Even if you do a private adoption, the homestudy process can take up to 2 years and more than $5,000.00.

I agree. But I'm assuming that money is going back to the adoption agency to take care of the children still living there, and paying the salaries of people who work there. And if there isn't any money coming in then they can't maintain an orphanage.

the can if they go through the state adoptions. But the set back of doing that is those kids have typically gone through hell, with abusive parents etc...so people are reluctant to do so, and you are less likely to get a baby. Then there are huge amts of people wanting to adopt that don't know this is even an option. So they look for girls having babies that aren't wanting to be a mommy yet. Supposedly the money for a private adoption is paperwork, fees etc... not actually for the baby. But that just makes the agency a baby broker, not credit to society. There have even been some "companies" that have paid women to have babies so they can "have them adopted" (sold). The entire thing should be illegal.

The reason why adoptions costs so much is because in many cases the adoptive parents pay for the medical expenses of the biological mother and the child then there are paperwork fees, lawyers fees and so many other expenses specially in international adoptions.

I never knew that. But think about it.. It costs about that much for a doctor to come in the labor delivery for 2 minutes for something that is gonna happen wether you're at the hospital or not. But honestly, I really don't know why it costs that much, but maybe it's from the room, board, and care they recieve until they find a home. But you could always foster a child, or there unfortunately people out there especially teen girls that give up their babies for adoption. Either way you look at it, babies cost wether you brought them into the world or not.

The big cost is already breaking potential parents' heart. The adoption centres sometimes need the money to go ahead with processes implied. Foreign exchanges can be expensive. Literally, it is a transaction between 2 parties, so buying is a word to describe the process.

All those facilities value money, and assorted the time the start mom isn't in an area to pay for them. each and every from time to time she won't be able to pay for her own treatment, it is each and every from time to time what boosts the expenses. Couples can, although, undertake for far less by ability of the foster care equipment. Our acquaintances foster and performance followed 3 little ones - which consists of an adolescent dad with sole custody of his infant. The state is fairly giving them $800 a month to look after his son even as he's interior the militia.

I whole heartedly agree with you. I've known some couples who would have loved to adopt but couldn't afford it. On the other hand, my best friend was a foster parent and eventually adopted the two babies. She didn't have to pay a dime. And, adoptive parents also get a tax break.

It's because you have to help for the other children that still need to be cared for by the state.
Think about kids that are between 10 and 18. They will never be adopted, but they still need to be cared for...and apparently, that MAJOR cost, and administration fees and incidental fees etc...add up to 30 grand.

I had no idea that it cost to adopt. I think that is unfair, just plain wrong. You have a point. And I thought it was against the law to sell a human being. Paying to adopt seems like breaking the law to me.
