This guy ( http://cynicalpsychic.blogspot.com/ ) has a gag website. I think it's a gag anyway. And he said there would be an earthquake in the pacific rim within the next 6 months and a week after he posted there was a quake. What were his chances? Mathematically speaking.

Looking at recent history of the area, major quakes hit the pacific rim in Dec 2004, Oct 2005 and May 2006. Ignoring smaller quakes it would appear theres 1 earthquake a year in that region. So if we assume this to be an average sampling it's chance to predict a quake within a 6 month time frame would be 1 in 2 (assuming equal odds of the quake occuring in either half of the year, impossible to say with such a small sample)
Though the odds are likely better then that, the article mentioned at least one of the quakes was preceded by several smaller ones.

Why do people deny the psychically gifted? It would be a very small likelihood that anyone would guess a quake with that sort of accuracy.
I think this guy is the real deal!

The chances would be at least 50/50.
By the way, he says he is not psychic and is not claiming to be psychic. He is honest, unlike all the so-called psychics who are nothing of the sort.

We are all psychic, but for the majority the gift or the belief has been long knocked out of them. Educated out is another way of looking at it. Many professional psychics have grown up in a psychic friendly environment. Perhaps a grand-parent or parent with the knowledge has helped bring the extra sense out in the open and encouraged its use. But there are as many practicing psychics who have not had the benefit of caring psychic guidance and who have still managed to develop and hone this natural extra sense.
