computer goes into hibernation and then will restart itself after 3 minutes

the only reason i know when this happen is when you have defined "wake up by LAN".
check the definitions in power options or communication.

there is something called ""Shutdown Event Tracker."" in xp frm event viwers or get it fast frm win xp help
first try this.

HIBERNATION
Use this option to shut down your computer without closing your programs or losing any unsaved information. In hibernate mode, Windows saves information in memory to your hard disk, takes note of your open programs, and then shuts down your computer. When you restart, your desktop and programs appear exactly as they were before you turned off your computer.

This option appears only if your computer and installed devices support it, and if you have enabled hibernation in Power Options

even if a pgm running also and even if u r on net also u can hibernate,don`t worry.check the power options and the security options first
