Hi, okay, so I really don't know how to get this question asked, but I'll try: There are three short paragraphs (you can see them right here: http://www2.bc.cc.ca.us/drosales/competing_viewpoints.htm) and I am writing a few sentences, regarding this question:

1. How does each of these (3) views see the relationship between slavery and sectional feeling?

...Okay, I guess the thing I'm trying to ask is what exactly does this question mean? How do I answer for the "sectional feeling" part?...does that mean like north and south? And even if it does, I still don't understand what I'm supposed to write about. Thanks if you have any input pointing me in the right direction. If not, it's okay, just don't answer please. But thanks again to those of you who will actually be helpful! ~I appreciate it~

(1) Beard view seems to focus on the Civil War as a "class" war and economic revolution, so that the slavery issue instigated the fight for reform.
(2) Potter view seems to focus on it as a regional "territorial" division between North and South, painted along the lines of slave and free territories.
(3) Holt view seems to negate any simple division, citing other factors such as religious affiliation and social background culture as the reasons for taking certain sides.
