In America I don't think any words or speech should be banned, even the most offensive speech. If someone offends us with speech we need to attack back with words. People who use slurs like that are generally ignorant and can easily be defeated using wit and intelligence.

I dont have a problem with that. The n-word should never be used by anyone. Alot of black people will say that they are the only ones that are alloud to use that word but I dont agree with that at all. Knowing the history behind the word I cant understand why you would say that. Sadly people use hurtful words all the time and there is nothing anyone can do but if that word can somehow be done with, imagine how much more peace there would be even if it was just a little.

It's a shame people don't have enough sence not to say the N word. The N word should never be used but as for a law to ban a word is also a scary thought because if they can stop people from saying that word (and like I said it should never be said) what will stop them from stopping us from saying the S word or the F word, will there be no end to what they can stop us from saying if this law passes?

Like swearing, I think people should control what words they choose to use. Especially where it could be heard by others, and possibly hurt people. I am a white guy, and very far from being prejudice. I have friends from many different cultures, and colors, so saying anything like that to anyone would be a complete no-no. It is completely unethical for anyone. We are all created equally, regardless.

How will all the rap stars make a living if that is done? Or would it only be a ban for white people to say it?

The "n" word is a word that only us black people need to be using. This words when used by black people does not mean disrespect its more of a sign of respect. But when whites use this word its more to get us mad. So what should happen is whites should learn not to say this word around us.

As a black man, you people need to get over the phucking N word. People are going to be saying that word for as long as there are men on earth. You can't stop it, just like you can't Italian people or polish people from using deragatory words about themselves.
In my opinion anyone can be that word you don't have to be black to be a 'N'. It's a shame that black people keep claiming that word as their word, that's the biggest problem.

That would be the dumbest thing this country would ever do. The Freedom of Speech would be violated and the country would probably have some sort of revolution or incarceration of the politicians who allowed it.

When black people stop calling us ******* and homosexuality a "disease", particularly a "white man's disease" (despite the fact that civil rights legends Bayard Rustin and James Baldwin were both openly gay), then I'll stop calling them colored, *****, mulatto and all the other not-as-rude words as "n word".
