in a fight between a fresh water crocodile and a constrictor snake (of any kind) of about the same weight - who dies first?

How big are our contenders? We had a 6 foot gator in the everglades eaten by a 13 foot burmese python, and both lost. It depends a lot on who grabs who first, where, and how big they are. Alligators love eating snakes. Snakes love eating baby gators and even full-grown caimans. http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/snakegator.asp

Boa Eating Alligator

What a truly morbid question. The two animals have an equal chance of winning. But if you were going to think about it you'd get a result of a double death in the match. In south america Anaconda's (a type of constrictor) have killed crocodiles in a matter of minutes. Simply because the size and shape of an anaconda in the water is better suited to the fighting ground. A crocodile can swim, but generally only goes after land animals because they are not a strong being. In conclusion, the constrictor would win. Though the odds of any but the anaconda entering the water are slim.

if the boa constirctor strikes first and wraps itself around the aligator it might be able to crush the crocodiles bones and the boa constrictor has more speed since its muscles are probably just as powerful as the crocodile but if the crocodile strikeses frst it might win since its teet are able to rip and tear large pieces of meet

The Boa would never strike first because the Croc would be much to large to swallow. The Croc probably has an instinctive fear of the Boa but it's possible that it would attack. The outcome likely be a toss up.

A boa constricter because the powerful coils could wrap the crocodile and choke it, it also depends on who strikes first, and who is quick, smart, and powerful.
