Some people have told me that the screen is black in that area, others have said the bladder is different (meaning it looks different from the kidneys) but is there any other signs as its difficult to see anything?

The technician looks for the presence of the labia; not the absence of the penis.

It's harder to tell when a baby is a girl, but the pictures I've seen show three "lines" in the genital region and the obvious absence of a phallus.

If you have the three lines and no penis, it probably is a girl...but it's never 100% with any baby.

A female will have what appears to be three usually white lines (could be darker) in a row and the rea will look flat across just like this one http://k43.pbase.com/u34/beths96/upload/31182315.ultrasound2.jpg

u will notice the difference in a boy or girl,a boys penis will visibly be seen,it will usually be sticking straight up in the air (thats what my sons did) http://www1.cs.columbia.edu/~sedwards/photos/kyle20030627/kyle20030627-Images/2.jpg

u see the difference..big one there...Good Luck!

My u/s tech said she could actually see all of my little girl's "girl parts" specifically. Yes, there are 3 lines but she could see more than just lack of a penis.
