Okay, I am trying to make a cute little video to the song Amazed by Lonestar to send to my hubby who is in Iraq, for Valentine's Day of course. I am putting both pictures and videos of us throughout the thing, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to reduce the time that the pictures stay on the screen. How do I change it?

I have tried going to tools, then options and then changing the picture duration, but that doesn't work. Is there another way to do it?

Changing the picture duration only changes the duration for pictures added after you have made the change. You could start a new project (save the one your working on) change the picture duration then add your pictures. If you want to make changes to your current project you have to double click on the photos you want to change and when your cursor gets to the edge of the photo it will change to a red double arrow and you can click and drag the photo to change its duration. But you may end up with gaps in between the pics.

If you want all the pictures to have the same duration I would go with starting a new project and setting the duration before you add all your pics. What I usually do is add my song(s) and figure out how much time I need to fill. Then I count up my pictures and divide that number into the time and that will be give me how many seconds I need per picture (don't forget the transition time) then make my setting changes then add all my pictures. Good Luck and blessings for husband, his service to this country is appreciated.

Drag the picture to the video bar in movie maker. On the right side of the picture there is a small triangle. Hover your cursor over it and a double headed arrow appears. Slide the picture to the amount of time you want it to appear on the screen (the time bar is just above the picture).

The picture will show for a minimum of 1 second to whatever you want.

Through my experience with Windows Movie Maker, i can't make the picture's time in the video shorter. So, I hope that you find a way and your husband is safe.
