9/28 + 3/z+2 = 3/4
Multiply each term by LCM 28(z +2)
9/28[28(z+2)] + 3/z+2[28(z+2)] = 3/4[28(z+2)]
9(z + 2) + 3 x 28 = 3 x 7(z + 2)
9z + 18 + 84 = 21z + 42
9z – 21z = 42 – 18 – 84
-12z = -60
z = 5

You have written an equation (equality) not an inequality.
First put all numbers on one side by subtracting form both sides equally: 9/28 - 9/28 +3/z +2 - 2 = 3/4 - 9/28 - 2
(I combined two subtractions)
gives you

3/z = 3/4 - 9/28 -2
simplify right hand side 3/z = (21 - 9 - 56) / 28 = -44/28 = -11/7
so
3/z = -11/7
divide both sides by 3
1/z = -11/21
multiply both sides by z
1= -11z/21
divide by 11
1/11 =-z/21
multiply by 21
21/11 = -z
multiply by -1 (with real inequalities this can be tricky*, but its easy with equations)
z = -21/11

*note if 4 < 50 but -4 > -50 !

The way you typed it, it's an equality. I would subtract 9/28 from both sides, then cross-multiply.

3/4 = 21/28; 21/28 - 9 28 = 12/28 or 3/7

3 / (z+2) = 3/7

3(z+2) = 3(7)

3z + 6 = 21

and solve for z

you first need to find a common denominator which in this case would be 28. which then your problem becomes

28(9/28+3/z+2)=28(3/4)

then divide 28 by 28 then muiltply by 9
the first part is 9

8/28 + 3/z + 2 = 3/4
8/28 +3/z + 56/28 = 21/28
3/z = -43/28
3 = -43*z/28
84 = -43 * z
z = - 84/43

but this question is an equality not an inequality

Subtract 9/28 from both sides.
Take the reciprocal of both sides.
Multiply by 3 to get rid of the 3.
Subtract 2.
Done.
Isn't it an equation though?

your answer is (3 divided by (3/4 minus 9/28)) minus 2.
